Downmix
Modify the characteristics of the speaker output:

LT/RT: Select this setting when you want to play a DVD in Dolby

Pro Logic Stereo effect. This produces a 2-channel effect close to

reality.

Stereo: Select this setting if you want to play a DVD recorded in

5.1 audio format in 2 channel stereo.

VSS: Perhaps you don’t have a 5.1 audio unit. In this case, you can

emulate a comparable sound by selecting the “VSS” setting.

Op Mode (Night mode)
Enable the night mode to activate special audio characteristics making

the sound less disturbing.

Line Out: Night mode is enabled.

RF Remod: Night mode is disabled.

Dynamic (Dynamic Range)
The term “Dynamic Range” defines the ratio of the lowest tone and the

loudest. If this Dynamic Range is very high then there is very low volume

as well as very loud passages.

This might cause some problems for the reproduction. Assume you

want to play a DVD in a very noisy environment. You can increase the

volume to be able to hear the low-volume passages but this entails that

the loud passages become inappropriately noisy. Hence, it is useful to

compress the dynamic range (i.e. decrease) and increase the volume at

the same time.

FULL -2/8: The dynamic range is compressed slightly (2/8) to maxi-

mum (FULL).

OFF: The dynamic range is uncompressed (factory setting).

Dual Mono
Normally, the sound output is in stereo. Here, you can choose a mono

output instead of stereo.

Stereo: The output is in stereo (factory setting).

Left: The output is in mono. All speakers will receive the left stereo

channel signal.

Right: Output is set to mono. All speakers will receive the right

stereo channel signal.

Mix Mono: Output is in mono. All speakers will receive both stereo

channels.
