Replacing the rechargeable
battery (Fig. C)
Note: For this step, you will need a cross head
screwdriver.
Switch the product off by means of the AUTO /
OFF button 7 before removing or inserting
the rechargeable battery.
Fold the solar casing 2 up against the upper
standpipe 5 .
Pull the lower standpipe 3 off the upper
standpipe 5 .
Open the rechargeable battery compartment 6
on the bottom of the solar casing 2 . To do so,
unscrew both screws anti-clockwise using a cross
head screwdriver.
Carefully remove the housing cover. Ensure that
you do not damage the wiring. Take out the
used or exhausted rechargeable battery.
Insert a NiMH, AA, 1.2 V / 900 mAh recharge-
able battery (included in delivery) into the
rechargeable battery compartment

Note: Ensure correct polarity. This is indicated
in the battery compartment

Place the cover back onto the rechargeable
battery compartment 6 again and turn both
screws clockwise by means of a cross head
screwdriver.
Make sure that the cables do not get jammed
when you shut the solar casing 2 .
Insert the lower standpipe 3 back into the
upper standpipe 5 again (see Fig. A).
How to use
Switching the light on and off
Switch the AUTO / OFF button 7 on the bottom
of the solar casing 2 into the AUTO or OFF
position to switch the lamp on or off.
Note: If the AUTO / OFF button 7 is in the
AUTO position, then the LED light switches on
automatically.
Note: Switch the lamp off (OFF position) if the
lamp will be in the dark for any length of time
(e.g. when transporting it with a rechargeable
battery inserted) or the burn time is not satis-
factory due to a very short incidence of light.
Charging rechargeable
batteries
Open the solar casing 2 into a horizontal
position.
Switch the AUTO / OFF button 7 on the bottom
of the solar casing 2 into the AUTO position
to recharge the rechargeable battery.
Note: The solar cell 1 requires sunlight that
is as direct as possible to recharge the recharge-
able battery. In order to get the best possible
results, place the light in a place where the solar
cell
1 is exposed to direct sunlight for as long
as possible.
The battery charging period using the solar cell 1
depends on the intensity of the sunlight and the
angle of incidence of the light on the solar cell
1 .
The LEDs should give off light for about 6–8 hours
with a fully charged rechargeable battery.
Place the solar cell 1 as perpendicular as
possible to the angle of incidence of the light.
In this way you will receive the highest light
levels.

The light does not come on when it is
dark, even though it was exposed to
sunlight all day.
Artificial sources of light such as street lighting
or similar are making the Photosensor believe it
is still daylight.
Place the lamp somewhere where it is shielded
from artificial sources of light.
