Insert a NiMH, AAA, 1.2 V / 300 mAh re-

chargeable battery (included in delivery) into
the rechargeable battery compartment

7

.

Note: Ensure correct polarity. This is indicated
in the battery compartment

7

.

Place the cover back onto the rechargeable

battery compartment

7

again and turn both

screws clockwise by means of a cross head
screwdriver.

Make sure that the cables do not get jammed

when you shut the solar casing

5

.

Insert the lower standpipe

3

back into the

upper standpipe

2

again (see Fig. A).

How to use

Switching the light on and off

Switch the ON / OFF button

8

on the bottom

of the solar casing

5

into the ON or OFF

position to switch the lamp on or off.

Note: If the ON / OFF button

8

is in the ON

position, then the LED light switches on auto-
matically.

Note: Switch the lamp off (OFF position) if the
lamp will be in the dark for any length of time
(e.g. when transporting it with a rechargeable
battery inserted) or the burn time is not satis-
factory due to a very short incidence of light.

Charging rechargeable

batteries

Open the solar casing

5

into a horizontal

position.

Switch the ON / OFF button

8

on the bottom

of the solar casing

5

into the ON position to

recharge the rechargeable battery.

Note: The solar cell

6

requires sunlight that

is as direct as possible to recharge the recharge-
able battery. In order to get the best possible
results, place the light in a place where the solar
cell

6

is exposed to direct sunlight for as long

as possible.

The battery charging period using the solar cell

6

depends on the intensity of the sunlight and the
angle of incidence of the light on the solar cell

6

.

The LEDs should give off light for about 6–8 hours
with a fully charged rechargeable battery.

Place the solar cell

6

as perpendicular as

possible to the angle of incidence of the light.
In this way you will receive the highest light
levels.

Trouble-shooting

=

Problem

= Cause
= Solution

The light does not come on when it is
dark, even though it was exposed to
sunlight all day.

Artificial sources of light such as street lighting

or similar are making the Photosensor believe it
is still daylight.

Place the lamp somewhere where it is shielded

from artificial sources of light.

The lamp only comes on for a short
time or not at all.

The rechargeable battery is flat or there is not

enough daylight to recharge the rechargeable
battery.

Replace the rechargeable battery or place the

lamp in a sunnier position.

This product has some very sensitive electrical parts.
That is why interference may occur if the product is
set up near devices that transmit radio signals.
Remove these devices if interference occurs.

Electrostatic discharge may possibly cause distur-
bances to the product. If such disturbances occur,
remove the rechargeable battery for a few seconds
and then re-insert it (see “Replacing the rechargeable
battery”).
