1.1 Description of the unit

The automatically operating Stiebel Eltron
HTE 4 and HTE 5 electronic hand dryers are
fitted with a proximity switch which activates
the fan when your hands are brought towards
it, (approximately 60 - 120 mm below the
warm air exit grille). The dr yer automatically
switches off approximately 3 seconds after
the hands have moved away from the sensor.

The casing design does not allow cigarettes
or drinks etc to be placed on top, causing a
hazard. To retain this feature, when assem-
bling ensure that there are no gaps between
the wall and the unit.
In addition, the HTE 5 is protected against
damage by the cast aluminium casing.

1.2 Operation

In order to save energy and shorten the
drying time, vigorously shake wet hands over

the washbasin, then hold your hands beneath
the air exit grille rubbing them together in
the warm airstream.

1.3 Safety notes

During operation, temperatures of
over 90 °C can occur at the warm-

air exit grille. Due to the risk of
overheating this should not be covered.

In the event of overheating the temperature
safety cut out switches off the heating
element and the fan continues to run in a
cooling mode. The heating element switches
back on after approximately two minutes.

Ensure that the air inlet grilles on the
underside and rear of the dryer are always
kept open.

Trouble-free function and operational safety
can only be guaranteed if the original Stiebel
Eltron accessories and spare par ts are used.

1.4 Care

When cleaning the casing, only use a soft
cloth, with a mild detergent if necessary, and
repolish with a soft cloth. Do not spray the
dryer with water or use any abrasive or
caustic cleaning agents.

1.5 Trouble-shooting

Like all proximity switches, the operation of
the sensor is impaired if it is covered. If this
happens the hand dryer automatically
switches off after 3 seconds preventing it
from running continuously. In the event of an
operating failure, check that the sensor has
not been covered. After the removal of any
objects the dryer should function as normal.
