The mounting kit is intended to provide reliable mounting of specific prox-
imity switches in accordance with EC machinery directive (EN 13849-2).
The mounting kit fulfils the following requirements: tamper-proof, captive
and positive-locking.
 Select the permissible proximity switches (e.g. SMT-8M, SME-8M
1)
) from
our catalogue ( www.festo.com/catalogue).
Note
To avoid operative malfunctions and material damage:
 Observe that the mounting kit increases the overall length of the prox-
imity switch. Consider that the minimum stroke of the drive changes as a
result. The required minimum strokes per drive can be taken from the
catalogue pages of the mounting kit (
 www.festo.com/catalogue).
 Before mounting, check the application range of the mounting kit in your
drive.
 Observe that the cover 1 cannot be removed non-destructively. The
cover 1 can be ordered separately.
 Observe also the relevant operating instructions for the proximity
switches and drive.

 Mount the proximity
switch (A) in the sensor slot
in accordance with its oper-
ating instructions.

 Place the terminal block 2
in direct contact in front of
the proximity switch (A).
 Fasten the terminal block 2
in the groove positively
locked. Comply with the
permissible tightening
torque.

 Place the cover 1 onto the
sensor cable.
 Push the cover 1 next to
the proximity switch (A).

 Press the cover 1 onto the
terminal block 2 until it
snaps into place.
