The emergency buffers 1 ... 3 are intended to prevent material damage re-
sulting from faulty commissioning or program errors. They are not intended
to be used as continual cushioning elements.

2. General instructions
2a. Working stroke

Information

For fastening the emergency buffers 1 ... 3:

Observe the supplied assembly instructions of the retainers 5 ... 7.

The subsequent installation of emergency buffers 1 .... 3 reduces the
working stroke.

Check whether the remaining working stroke is sufficient for your applica-
tion.

Working stroke = effective stroke minus emergency buffer

2b. Coupled axes

Note

When operating with two coupled axes:
Only uniform impact on both sides produces stresses without torsion.

Make sure that cushioning components of the same type
(emergency buffers 1 … 3 or shock absorbers) are attached in the same
position on the guide and drive axes.

3. Preparing for assembly

Degrease the surface of the retainers 5 … 7 intended for gluing onto the
emergency buffer 1 … 3 with a mild cleanser (e.g. petroleum ether).

Note

The protective foil 4 is silicon-coated for functional reasons and so contains
PWIS

1)

.

The silicon is in bound form and is not usually transferred when the protec-
tive foil is touched. The silicon will be dissolved if brought into contact with
solvents.

Observe the following when pulling off the protective foil 4:

– avoid all contact of the protective foil 4 with solvents;
– remove the protective foil 4 immediately from the critical area.
If these safety measures are complied with, the emergency buffer 1 … 3 is
PWIS

1)

-free in the mounted state.

12296_2

Pull off the protective
foil 4.

Mount the retainer 5 ... 7 according to the supplied assembly instruc-
tions.

1)

PWIS = paint-wetting impairment substances

4. Assembly

retainer 5 with distance s
( Table), depending on
the axis type.

Press the emergency buf-
fers 1 onto the guide
rail (B) until the lugs (A)
snap into the profile
grooves (C).

Press the emergency buf-
fers 1 with the bonding sur-
face against the shock ab-
sorber retainers 5.
