► On the assembly or release of the suction hose, 11 grasp the black plastic
end piece and not the suction hose itself 11 . The suction hose 11 could be
damaged by twisting or bending.
♦ Insert the suction pipe 12 into the rigid end piece of the suction hose 11 .
Handling and operation
In this chapter you receive important information about the handling and opera-
tion of the appliance.
Switching the appliance on and off
♦ Insert the power plug into a mains wall socket.
♦ To switch the appliance on, place the On/Off switch 6 at the position "ON".
♦ To switch the appliance off , place the On/Off switch 6 at the position "OFF".
Optimal working procedures
WARNING
► The vacuuming up of glowing ash and combustible, explosive or health
hazardous materials is strictly prohibited.
► Only vacuum cold ashes. Cold ash is ash, which has cooled for suffi ciently
long and contains no embers. This can be determined by combing over the
ash with a metal tool before the appliance is used. From cold ash there is
no perceptible heat radiation.
♦ Place the appliance on a level and heat-resistant surface.
♦ Always use the suction pipe 12 for vacuuming. Hold the suction pipe 12 at
a distance of approximately 1 cm above the ashes.
♦ Vacuum only ashes cooled to below 40°C.
♦ When vacuuming, constantly check the metal container 10 and the vacuum
hose 11 for warming.
♦ In the event of the appliance heating up, switch it off and disconnect the
plug from the mains power socket. Let the appliance cool down outdoors
under supervision.
♦ During work pauses you can insert the suction pipe 12 into the accessory
storage 2 on the container lid 5 .
♦ When transporting the appliance always use the carrying handle 9 .
