Initial use
NOTE
► Prior to initial use, the barbecue must be warmed up for at least 30 minutes.
WARNING
Risk of burns!
► Place the barbecue on a secure, level and fi rm surface during use, other-
wise it could tip over.
► CAUTION! Do not use spirit or petrol to ignite or reignite the barbecue!
Use only ignition aids that comply with EN 1860-3. Otherwise there is a
risk of uncontrollable heat generation due to defl agration.
♦ Put a layer of charcoal into the charcoal tray 3 .
♦ Place one or two solid fi relighters on top of the layer of charcoal and ignite
the solid fi relighters using a match or lighter.
♦ Allow the fi relighters to burn for 2 to 4 minutes. Then slowly fi ll the charcoal
tray
3 with charcoal.
♦ Use the ventilation slots on the fi re pan 4 to control the supply of oxygen.
Opening the ventilation slits allows more oxygen to reach the coals, which
will become hotter and burn more quickly. Closing the ventilation slits
reduces the supply of oxygen and the coals will burn more slowly.
♦ After about 20 minutes the charcoal will display a white coating of ash.
The optimal burning temperature has now been reached.
♦ Spread the charcoal evenly around the charcoal tray 3 using a suitable
metal tool.
♦ Put the cooking grill onto the barbecue and start grilling.
Cleaning and care
WARNING
Risk of burns!
► Allow the barbecue to cool down completely before cleaning it or putting
it into storage. NEVER use water to extinguish the glowing charcoal.
Risk of property damage!
► Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents, since they may dam-
age the surface of the barbecue.
