Setting up / programming


6.1 Pyrometer

connection

To measure the temperature the PI 6000 requires a measurement pyrometer (IMPAC series 5, 12, 140, 510
or 520 digital pyrometer), for this reason the communication between this pyrometer and the PI 6000 is to be
checked first.
If the pyrometer is connected and detected correctly, the "noPy" message on the display disappears and is
replaced by "- - - -", as long as no suitable program for the pyrometer selected (if 7777 is displayed, the
pyrometer is warming up). The actual measured temperature can only be read on the display once (error-
free) program data have been entered.
If an additional alarm pyrometer is connected for monitoring the maximum temperature allowed, this meas-
ured temperature can be checked using the InfraWin software in the "Program Monitor" window (see 6.6.4
Program execution).

Note:

It is also possible to prepare control programs using the InfraWin software without a
pyrometer connected. If the data entered do not match to the connected pyrometer
subsequently, it is only possible to start a program once the errors have been rectified.

Series 5 pyrometers must be set to "Online" using the Online/Offline switch for com-
munication with the PI 6000.



6.2 Programming

environment

The InfraWin editing and analysis software is included with the PI 6000. The control programs are prepared
and the parameters set for the connected measurement pyrometer using this software. In addition, using the
program the measured data can be displayed graphically or numerically, saved and analysed.

InfraWin runs on Windows

6.3 Installation

To install the software, select the installation program "setup.exe" on the InfraWin CD and follow the instruc-
tions.
