2. Intended use
Shock absorber, external:
End-position cushioning of the semi-rotary drive aB.

3. Safety instructions and notes on mounting

Caution

Unexpected movement of components.
Injury due to electric shock, impact, squeezing.
 Switch off compressed air before assembly work.
 Observe additional safety instructions

(

 operating instructions for semi-rotary drive aB).

Note

Malfunction and material damage due to incorrect mounting.
 Place semi-rotary drive aB into operation only with a mounted cushion-

ing/stop system.

Information

Increased wear on the buffer of the shock absorber 2.
 Grease the stop face on the buffer (C) (multi-purpose grease, e.g. petrole-

um based).

4. Mounting
4a. Mount shock absorber retainer
4

 Select position of the shock absorber retainer 4:

left or right on the semi-rotary drive.

18362d_4

 Screw the shock absorb-

er 2 into the shock absorb-
er retainer 4 so it is flush.

 Tighten lock nut 1.

18362d_5

 Place centring sleeves 3 in

the semi-rotary drive aB.

 Place shock absorber re-

tainer 4 on the centring
sleeves 3.

 Tighten screws 5.

Comply with the tightening
torque (

 section 7).

4b. Mount cam aJ

Information

If the switch lug DASI-Q11-... is used for external end-position sensing:
 Mount switch lug in front of the cam aJ

(

 switch lug assembly instructions).

Note

If no cam is mounted on one side of the limiting pin (B), the piston impacts in-
ternally without cushioning.
This results in destruction of the drive.
 Mount a cam aJ both right and left of the limiting pin (B).

18362d_6

 Clamp the cams aJ with the

screws aA to one slot nut 9
each.

 Push one pre-assembled

cam aJ each to the left and
to the right through the cut-
out (A) in the circumferential
groove of the flange 7.

18362d_7

4c. Mount flange 7

 Turn the semi-rotary drive aB by hand into the approximate mid-position.

1836
2d_8

 Align flange 7.

Check:
cut-out (A) points in the di-
rection of the shock absorb-
er.

 Place centring sleeves 8 in

the semi-rotary drive aB.

 Place flange 7 on the cen-

tring sleeves 8.

 Tighten screws 6.

Comply with the tightening
torque (

 section 7).

5. Set swivel angle

18362d_9

 Observe the permissible

swivel angles.

 Move the cams aJ onto the

swivel angle.

 Tighten screws aA.

Comply with the tightening
torque (

 section 7).

5a. Set maximum swivel angle

18362d_12

 Position the cams aJ against

the limiting pin (B).

 Tighten screws aA. Comply

with the tightening torque
(

 section 7).

5b. Set minimum swivel angle

Note

If the cams aJ are mounted in the area of the cut-out (A), the cams aJ do not
clamp correctly.
Cams aJ move in operation.
 Do not mount the cams aJ beyond the edge of the cut-out (A).

18362d_13

 Unscrew the shock absor-

ber 2.

 Move the cams aJ onto the

minimum swivel angle.

 Tighten screws aA.
 Screw the shock absorb-

er 2 in again so it is flush.
Comply with the tightening
torque (

 section 7).

 Repeat setting for the se-

cond cam aJ.

1)

If the switch lug DASI-Q11-... is used for external end-position sensing, the maximum swivel

angle is reduced by the width of the switch lug.

6. Precision adjustment

Warning

Unexpected movement of components.
Injury due to electric shock, impact, squeezing.
 Observe safety instructions

(

 operating instructions for semi-rotary drive aB: Commissioning).

Note

If the shock absorber 2 is unscrewed too far, the impact angle will be in the
impermissible field.
This results in destruction of the shock absorber 2.

 Comply with distance X ( table).

8. Test run

 Start test run ( operating instructions of the DRRD).
 Interrupt the test run in the following cases:

Settings must be changed, e. g. at the swivel angle

Shock absorber retainer 4 moves or twists

the cams aJ impact audibly mechanically.

Possible options for metallic impacts:

Cam aJ incorrectly positioned

Shock absorber adjustment not observed ( section 6)

Semi-rotary drive aB insufficiently throttled.

 Eliminate cause.
 Restart test run.
 Execute test run repeatedly until a correction is no longer required.
