3 Operating instructions

3.1 Charging the battery (fig. 5)

Prior to initial commissioning fully charge the battery (see operating instruc-

tions charger ALG40). A new battery does not reach its full capacity until after

several charging/discharging cycles. If the battery is already charged, do not

charge it again. Only recharge the battery when empty and no further posi-

tioning operation is feasible. In case the battery loses capacity shortly after a

proper charging cycle it will be at the end of its service life.

3.2 Meaning of the LED status indicators (fig. 2)

Green continuous (a):

The infrared interface transmits valid commands. Press and hold the ON

switch (fig. 4) to start the positioning operation.

Red flashing twice per second:

The power tool is overheated, the overtemperature protection has actuated.

After cooling down the power tool will be ready for operation again. Should

the overtemperature protection actuate several times in quick succession,

have the power tool returned to the manufacturer for revision.

Red (b) flashing once per second:

The battery is discharged (empty) and must be changed. The power tool is

blocked, it will not be ready for operation again until after having been not

live for 20 s.

Red (b) flashing four times a second:

The infrared data transmission is disturbed.
3.3 Changing the tool bit (fig. 1)

Pull the collar on the tool holder forward. Insert the ¼“ hexagon tool shaft

directly into the tool holder. Attach the matching wrench (not included in the

delivery) onto the shaft.

3.4 IR-Receiver (fig. 3)

Three IR receivers in an 120° angular arrangement around the tool holder

serve for optimized data transmission from N 153 position display to the po-

wer tool. Here the power tool gets the information by the respective position

display regarding direction of rotation and speed. The power tool will stop

automatically when in alignment with the target position.

Wipe the IR receivers from time to time with a soft cloth.

3.5 ON switch (fig. 4)

Press and hold the ON switch to start the positioning operation at the respec-

tive shaft (N 153 with flashing LED). Upon reaching the target position the

power tool stops automatically. Let go of the ON switch. Any release of the

ON switch during the positioning operation will immediately stop the power

tool.

After approx. 3 seconds in idle state the power tool will go to standby mode

in order to achieve the maximum service cycle of the battery.
