1. Introduction

The strain sensor DSRH is based on strain gauges. The strain gauges are situated under the metal
casing (please see drawing on page 3).
The material of the sensor DSRH is rust-free.
WARNING: Please only activate the hexagon socket (wrench size 6) when the sensor is attached
in the bar.

2. Delivery condition

The sensor will be delivered with standard scaling.

1000

µε

(Microstrain) strain = 10V output signal (voltage version)

1000

µε

(Microstrain) strain = 20mA output signal (current version)

Two potentiometer are situated under the head cover (grey plastic cover). The right one is for the
amplification (e.g. 800

µε

= 10V or 24mA); with the left one the zero point of the test output may be

adjusted.
WARNING: If the potentiometer P2 is adjusted, the factory-made calibration has changed.
Possibly the sensor has to be calibrated again.

3. Installation

Material needed:

-Torque screw driver (pre-adjustment of 3 Nm, Art. Nr. 134494)

Please see the bore tolerances on page 3. Too big tolerance deviation may cause problems.

If the strain probe is provided with a supporting ring, please fixate the ring with its set screw on the
shaft that it is positioned 20 up to 80mm inside the borehole.

Introduce the sensor carefully to the borehole onto the required depth. The borehole has to be
clean and free of lubricating grease and free of splints.

Hold the sensor on the aluminium head and fasten it with the torque screw driver to a turning
moment of 3Nm.

The sensor is now ready to use. The correct fastening of the sensor may be checked with slight
pulling and pushing in the direction of the borehole. While doing this the output signal should not
change. If the red LED is lucent when the strain probe is unloaded, P1 has to be manipulated until
the LED expires (please see page 3, electrical connections).
On Pin 2 (test out) the LED function may be monitored over the machine control

Tare the signal output before the first measurement („Reset“). Reset needs to be done after every
cycle in operational mode.

4. Dismounting

Loosening the hexagon socket at the sensor head until the screw is slightly abutting (without
effort). Do not turn any further, the sensor may be damaged!
If the sensor has been installed for a long time the sensor may stuck in the borehole. If this
happens, knock slightly with a plastic mallet in axial direction on the sensor head until it’s
loosening.
The sensor may now be pulled out of the borehole, again without any effort.
