Impedance linearization (for tube amplifiers)

The semi-active Tensor Epsilon was designed
for you to be able to use your own amplifier at
bass-midrange, midrange and high frequencies.
Usually, this will be a transistor amplifier that
does not have any problems with the vacillating
impedance characteristics due to its low internal
resistance.

With the output of a tube amplifier however, the situation is different.
The sound quality can be improved if the amp gets an impedance of
4 Ω or 8 Ω that stays the same at all frequencies. That is why the
semi-active Tensors feature built-in impedance linearization that can
be patched into the signal path.

Tweeter Level

In addition, the ‘Tweeter Level’ allows to either raise
or lower the high frequency level by 1,5 dB. Just insert
the short circuit plug in the accordant position: -1,5
dB to lower and +1,5 dB to raise the high frequency
level.

Bass Gain and Room EQ

The other two controls alter the bass frequencies:

• The ‘Bass Gain ‘ raises or lowers the overall bass

level up to +/-10 dB.

• The ‘Room EQ’ is a shelving filter and works differently: from a certain

point (below 150 Hz in this case) the frequencies are gradually being
changed (see figure).

Room EQ <150 Hz for low frequencies
