5.2 Malfunctions

Poor safety precautions may cause malfunctions that are often (erroneously)
blamed on the pressure regulator. Among these malfunctions are:

Rising output pressure from the regulator when a water boiler was
installed.

This problem occurs when the water temperature through the boiler is too
high. Since the pressure regulator is tightly closed, there is no danger of
water leaking out.

Solution:

Install an expansion vessel between pressure regulator and boiler to
compensate for the rising pressure.

The pressure regulator does not maintain the set pressure.

In most cases this problem results from
contamination at the valve seat,
causing leakage and rising output
pressure.

Solution:

Install a filter upstream.

Clean and service the cardridge.
