Replacing the cartridge

A cartridge

20

is a wear part that needs replacing

according to the hardness and / or degree of con-
tamination of the water. This becomes evident when
the handle

1

becomes difficult to move. A new

cartridges

20

can be obtained from the listed

service office.
Note: This step requires the included Allen key
(2.5 mm)

27

and an open-end spanner SW 30 mm.

Proceed as follows to replace the cartridge

20

:

Shut off the main water supply. Allow any

remaining water in the pipework to drain.

Remove the hot / cold plaque

17

by moving the

handle

1

into top-most position and pushing

the plaque out carefully from inside with a
long, flat object.

Loosen the locking screw

16

with the Allen key

27

by turning it counter-clockwise.

CAUTION! Do not unscrew the screw com-
pletely. Only loosen this as far as is necessary
to remove the handle

1

.

Remove the handle

1

.

Unscrew the cartridge covering ring

18

.

Loosen the cartridge locking ring

19

below

with an open-end spanner SW 30 mm and
remove the entire cartridge

20

from the body

of the tap

2

.

Place the new cartridge

20

(Type 40 M ESV)

into the body of the tap

2

in exactly the same

way.

Note: Make sure that the seal is fitted properly
under the cartridge

20

. Make sure that the

guides are in the corresponding holes.

Re-assemble all the afore-mentioned parts again.

Tighten the cartridge securing ring

19

whilst

holding the tap in place against the rotating
movement. This ensures tightness and prevents
the lever motion from becoming sluggish.

Information

Potability of tap water

Find out about the potability of your tap water

supply. Your local water authority or water
supply company will be able to inform you.

The following general recommendations apply to
the potability of tap water:

Let the water run freely for a short time if it has

been stagnating in the pipes for more than four
hours. Do not use any of this stagnant water in
the preparation of food or for drinking. This ap-
plies particularly as far as babies and infants
are concerned. Otherwise health concerns can
arise. Fresh water can be readily distinguished
from stagnant water as fresh water is noticeably
cooler as it leaves the pipe.

Do not use stagnant water from chromium-plated

pipes for the preparation of food or for drinking
or for personal hygiene if you are allergic to
nickel. This water may contain high quantities
of nickel and trigger an allergic reaction.

Do not use water from lead pipes for preparing

food or drink for babies or infants. Do not use
it for preparing food or drink during pregnancy.
Lead dissolves in drinking water and is particu-
larly damaging to the health of babies and
young children.
