POWER SUPPLY CONNECTION:
a) The maximum value for loop impedance at the
mains connection point is 0.5 Ohms.
b) The conductor cross-section of the power
supply line should be of a magnitude so as
to cause a 15% voltage drop in the case of a
machine blockage (inhibit current = 3 x nominal
current).
CHECKING THE RUNNING DIRECTION:
1. Switch the machine on at the main switch (1)
(Fig. 2) (position “I”). The pilot lamp I (4) (Fig.
2) flashes briefly and is then permanently lit.
In addition, the pilot lamp II (5) (Fig. 2) also
flashes.
2. Briefly turn the keyswitch (2) (Fig. 2) to the
right to Start and then return to Stop. The pilot
lamp II (5) (Fig. 2) goes out.
3. Turn the keyswitch (2) (Fig. 2) to the right to
Start. The cutting unit is running.
4. Check that the cutting unit is running in the
correct direction and correct the phase relation
of the power plug if necessary.
Correcting the phase relation of the
power plug may only be carried out
by a qualified electrician!
Now that everything has been correctly assembled
and connected, you can proceed to operating
the machine.
AREA OF APPLICATION:
The intimus 519 is a machine for compacting
large quantities of non-returnable plastic bottles
and drink cans.
The machine may only be used for
compacting empty non-returnable
plastic bottles and drink cans!
Compacting other materials, such as
glass bottles or tin cans for preserves
may lead to personal injuries (e.g. due
to the material splitting etc.), as well as
damage to the machine (e.g. destruction
of the cutters etc.).
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS:
Be certain that three phase current is available at
the point of installation (see TECHNICAL DATA
for information concerning required pre-fusing of
the electrical outlet).
The machine may only be used for its
intended purpose!
The machine’s mains connection must
be freely accessible!
The machine should only be operated
in closed rooms within a temperature
range of 10 to 40° C!
INSTALLATION OF THE COMPACTOR:
1. Remove wooden casing.
2. Remove protective film.
3. Lift the machine off the pallet with a fork-lift
truck and place on its adjustable feet on the
floor.
4. Compensate for uneven floors with the aid of
the adjustable feet (fig. 1).
Note: The place of use of the machine can be
easily changed at any time with the aid of a
simple lift truck.

INITIAL START UP
CONTROLS (Fig. 2):
1 = Main switch (Emergency Stop)
The machine is switched on and off with this
switch (position “I” and “0” respectively).
Note: Readiness of the machine must
be confirmed after every restart by briefly
switching the keyswitch (2) (Fig. 2) to the
right to Start and back to Stop again.
2 = Keyswitch (Fig. 2)
a) “Cutter forwards”
When the switch is turned to the right, the
cutter runs forwards and the machine can
be loaded. The machine remains in this
position.
Note: To stop the cutter, briefly turn the
rotary switch to the left to backwards or
turn the main switch (1) to the left.
c) “Cutter backwards”
When the switch is turned to the left, the
cutter runs backwards.
Note: The machine only runs backwards
as long as the switch is held in this
position (jog mode).
3 = Light barrier (forwards) (Fig. 3)
Starts the compacting process as soon
as material is fed into one of the two feed
tubes (6). After a suitable follow-up time, the
machine is automatically switched off and
the cutter stops.
OPERATION
<< Danger of injury! Keep all loose articles of
clothing, ties, jewelery, long hair or other
loose objects away from opening!
<< Danger of injury! Never insert fingers into ope-
ning!
<< In case of danger switch the machine off with the
mains switch, or with the emergency switch, or
unplug the machine!
<< Always unplug the machine from the mains power
supply before opening the machine!
Repairs may only be performed by trained per-
sonnel!
<< The machine may not be operated by more than
one person at any given time!
The machine was designed for safe operation by “one
person only”.
<< During the compacting process, no other work
may be performed on the machine (for example
cleaning, etc.)!
<< The machine is not a toy, and is not suitable for
use by children!
The overall technical safety concept of this machine
(dimensions, feed openings, emergency shutdown
devices etc.) does not provide for any guarantee
regarding hazard-free operation by children.
