4 Safety
4.1
General
Each person working with the instrument must have read and understood the user manual before operation.
Also this has to be done if the person already used similar instruments or was already trained by the manu-
facturer.
The infrared switch has only to be used for the purpose described in the manual. It is recommended to use
only accessories offered by the manufacturer.
4.2
Electrical connection
Follow common safety regulations for mains voltage (230 or 115 V AC) connecting additional devices operat-
ing with this mains voltage (e.g. transformers). Touching mains voltage can be fatal. An incorrect connection
and mounting can cause serious health or material damages.
Only qualified specialists are allowed to connect such devices to the mains voltage.
5 Electrical installation
For operation the switch a power supply of 24 V DC ±15% is necessary. When connecting the device to the
power supply ensure correct polarity. To switch off the instrument, unplug the connector or interrupt the
power supply.
To meet the electromagnetic requirements (EMI), a shielded connecting cable must be used. The shield of
the connecting cable has to be connected only on the pyrometer’s side. On side of the power supply (switch
board) the shield must be open to avoid ground loops.
The switch does not require time for starting or preheating and is immediately ready for operation.
The connecting cable (please order it separately) has a 3-pin plug at one end, wires on the other. The as-
signment you can see in the following drawings:

The switch output applies the following voltages:
• Up to the threshold: 0 V
• Exceeding the threshold: approx. 2 V below the power supply voltage
The internal resistance is 1 kΩ. The output is short-circuit proof.
