6 Maintenance
Small scratches in the foil won’t cause problems. When there are cracks in the foil moisture will
penetrate the strain gages and the measurement can be affected.
We generally recommend an annual maintenance at Baumer Sensopress when the strain rings are
frequently used. The strain gages and the steel foils will be replaced and a new certificate of
compliance will be issued.
Possible ways to find out when strain rings should be maintained?
- Install all strain rings on one tie bar and compare the operational strain. If one strain ring
shows a big difference, you can be sure of that this ring should be maintained.
- If measurement abnormalities occur, please return the ring for maintenance.
- Visual control for cracks in the foil and other mechanical damages.
Maintenance examples:
The foil has been misaligned due to false installation
/ manipulation.
Mechanical damage of the cable connection. Moving
platens or tools have crashed into the ring.
