Optional Hard Disk Installation

Before installing the hard disk be sure to save any important data
to floppy disk by using the SAVE TO DISK function described
on page 141. Also remove the backup batteries.
Turn the PSR-8000 power OFF and unplug the power cord from
both the AC wall socket and the instrument’s rear panel. Turn the
instrument upside down and rest it on a blanket or other soft
surface.

Remove the four silver screws from the edge of the hard disk
cover in the corner of the instrument’s bottom panel. These will
be used later to attach the hard disk (step B).

Remove the four black screws from the corners of the hard disk
cover, and remove the cover.

Pull the connector out from the hard disk recess, and connect it
to the hard disk unit as shown in the illustration.
• Four of the pins on the hard disk unit are not used. Refer to the
illustration carefully to ensure proper connection.

■ Hard Disk
The hard disk used must be a 2.5 inch IDE compatible type with
a capacity of 815 megabytes or more, but some types may have
different mounting requirements or
may not function properly. Yamaha
recommends the following hard disk
units:
• The maximum effective use of any hard disk used with the
PSR-8000 will be 780 megabytes, even if the hard disk itself
has higher capacity.
Please note that these recommendations may be changed at a
later date. Ask your nearest Yamaha representative or an author-
ized distributor listed at the end of this owner’s manual for
information on the latest hard disk recommendations.
Install a hard disk at your own risk. Yamaha will not be held
responsible for any damage or injury resulting from improper
installation or the use of a hard disk other than one of the types
recommended by Yamaha.

■ Festplatte
Als Festplatte muß ein IDE-kompatibles 2,5-Zoll-Laufwerk
mit mindestens 815 Megabyte Speicherplatz verwendet werden,
wobei jedoch zu beachten ist, daß
gewisse Ausführungen nicht in den
Einbauplatz passen oder nicht
einwandfrei arbeiten. Yamaha
empfiehlt die folgenden Festplatten:
• Der vom PSR-8000 genutzte Festplattenspeicher beträgt in
jedem Fall 780 Megabyte, auch dann, wenn die Festplatte
mehr Speicherplatz bietet.
Beachten Sie bitte, daß stetig neue Festplatten auf den Markt
kommen. Lassen Sie sich daher vor dem Kauf einer Festplatte von
der nächsten Yamaha-Vertretung oder einem der am Ende dieser
Bedienungsanleitung aufgeführten autorisierten Vertriebe beraten.
Die Installation der Festplatte erfolgt auf eigenes Risiko. Yamaha
haftet nicht für Schäden oder Verletzungen, die auf unsachgemäße
Installation oder Installation einer ungeeigneten Festplatte
zurückzuführen sind.

Le disque dur qui est installé doit être un disque compatible

férentes ou ne fonctionnent pas cor-
rectement. Yamaha recommande d’uti-
liser les disques durs suivants:
• Un usage effectif maximum de n’importe quel disque dur
avec le PSR-8000 peut être assuré avec une capacité de 780
Mo même lorsque le disque dur a une capacité supérieure.
Veuillez noter que ces recommandations peuvent être modi-
fiées ultérieurement. Demandez aux représentants de la mar-
que Yamaha le plus proche de votre domicile ou à tout distribu-
teur autorisé figurant dans la liste qui apparaît à la fin du présent
manuel les recommandations les plus récentes relatives au
disque dur à utiliser.
La responsabilité de l’installation d’un disque dur vous in-
combe entièrement. Yamaha ne peut être tenu pour responsable
des dommages ou des accidents survenant d’une installation
inappropriée ou de l’utilisation d’un disque dur d’un type autre
que ceux qui sont recommandés par Yamaha.
