Overcurrent and Under-voltage Shutdown

General

The Fronius String Control 100/12 has a shutdown function that interrupts the energy sup-
ply in the Solar Net:
-

in the event of overcurrent, e.g., in case of a short circuit

-

in the event of under-voltage

Functional princi-
ple

The overcurrent and under-voltage shutdown is not dependent on the current flow direc-
tion.
If the String Control 100/12 measures a current flow > 3 A or a voltage < 7 V while supplying
Solar Net components, the energy supply in the Solar Net is interrupted.

The energy supply can be restored automatically or manually.

Safety

Restoring the en-
ergy supply auto-
matically

Jumper positions:

A

Automatic restoration of the energy
supply
(factory setting)

M

Manual restoration of the energy
supply

The jumper (1) must be set to position A for automatic restoration of the energy supply.

-

After a shutdown due to overcurrent or under-voltage, the Fronius String Control 100/
12 tries to restore the energy supply in the Solar Net every 5 seconds so long as there
is a short circuit, for example.

-

The ‘PWROK’ LED (2) flashes briefly every 5 seconds.

-

When the power supply is reestablished the ‘PWROK’ LED lights up green.

If there is no short circuit and the LED ‘PWROK’ is not lit up, a shutdown due to under-
voltage has occurred.
In this case an energy supply to the DATCOM components via an external source is re-
quired.

WARNING! An electric shock can be fatal. Danger from DC voltage from solar
modules.
-

Make sure that the input and output sides in front of the device are not
charged before connecting anything.

-

Any and all connections should only be carried out by qualified electricians.

-

Follow the safety rules in these operating instructions.
