Important Installation Notes
Administrator Rights
To install Ascent Xtrata Pro, the logged-in user must be part of the Administrator
group on the local machine.
Install Ascent Capture First
The Ascent Xtrata Pro installation installs and registers custom Ascent Capture
components only if a certified version of Ascent Capture is detected on the computer.
Therefore, to use the custom Ascent Capture components, you must install a certified
version of Ascent Capture before you install Ascent Xtrata Pro.
Installing Ascent Xtrata Pro
Installing Ascent Xtrata Pro involves the following basic steps, which you should
perform in the order listed.
Step 1 Install Ascent Capture.
Step 2 Install Ascent Xtrata Pro.
Step 3 Activate the Ascent Xtrata Pro license.
Step 4 Configure Ascent Xtrata Pro Server Services
Step 1 Install Ascent Capture
Refer to your Ascent Capture documentation for installation instructions.
Step 2 Install Ascent Xtrata Pro
You must install Ascent Xtrata Pro on each Ascent Capture client and/or standalone
station where you want to use it.
Warning
Before you install Ascent Xtrata Pro be sure that DirectX 8.1 or higher is
installed, otherwise the installation will terminate. If this happens, install DirectX 8.1
or higher and run Ascent Xtrata Pro setup again.
To install Ascent Xtrata Pro

Shut down any applications (including the Control Panel, virus detection
software, and toolbars) that might be running on the Ascent Capture station
where you want to install Ascent Xtrata Pro.

Insert the Ascent Xtrata Pro installation CD into the CD drive. The CD
supports AutoPlay, so the installation will automatically start. (If it does not
start, run Setup.exe from the CD.)

Follow the instructions presented to you.
