3.8 Implementing the SkyCable cards

After you have installed all the connection cables on the base unit, the SkyCable TWIN cards are
installed. Before you insert cards into the TechniNet BS4 Light base station, always switch them
to zero potential.

Please note:

When handling SkyCable cards, ESD protection measures in accordance with DIN EN
100 015-1 must be observed (create potential equalisation between the body and the
earth of the device and housing via high-impedance resistance (c. 1 mohm) e.g. using a
standard ESD wrist strap).

After you have opened the door of the base unit, the slots for the SkyCable cards will be visible.
Slot 1 is located on the left and slot 4 on the right of the base unit.

Now insert the cards into the slots one at a time and connect the tuner coaxial cables to the
multi-switch F-jack. The coaxial connections for unused slots must be closed off using 75 ohm
resistances. When all the cards have been installed, you can reconnect the base unit to the
mains.

Now program the cards using the programming remote control or the PC software (TMS), if you
are a trained expert. You can find details on how to use the programming remote control for the
setup in the following sections.
