5. Maintenance and Care .
5.1 Cleaning .
5.1.1 Piston/Cylinder system .
The high-pressure design is a special layout for ensuring stable operation in spite of strong forces.
This system is self-cleaning and is checked for every calibration. Should the operating characteristics
still deteriorate, e.g. due to oil contamination (the signs for this would be bad sensitivity, or short
duration of free rotation), please contact WIKA.
The combined piston/bell system should only be disassembled, cleaned or
repaired by authorised specialists.
5.1.2 Weight Set .
The weights should be handled with gloves.
If fingerprints or other impurities are found on the weight pieces in spite of this precaution, they
can be removed with alcohol (spirit).
5.2 Wear Parts
.
Sealing in the piston receptacle and in the test specimen connection is purely metallic using a sealing
cone. The individual components are made of wear-proof materials. Should the seal faces show signs
of wear or damage on the interior or exterior cone, the components must be replaced. In this case,
please contact the manufacturer.
