4.2.1

Sequence

Step 1 Pressurize oilport #1. Maximum 350 bar

[5075 psi].

Step 2 Keep oilport #1 pressurized and pressurize

oilport #2. Maximum 240 bar [3480 psi].

Caution: To achieve optimal operation,

limit the time of building up the locking
pressure to a max. of two seconds and
keep this pressure on for minimal two

seconds.

Step 3 Depressurize oilports #1 and #2.

Step 4 Pressurize oilport #3. A high oil flow rate is

recommmended.

Caution: The oil flow must have a

hammer effect (impuls) on the collet to
achieve a reliable unlock of the collet.
Maximum pressure to be reached within

two seconds.

Step 5 Keep oilport #3 pressurized and pressurize

#4. The pressure on port #4 must not exceed
70 bar [1015 psi] to prevent damages in case
of a not unlocked collet. A pressure limiting
valve is recommended.

4.2.2 Conditions

Pressure on port #2 must be 70% of the pressure
on port #1.

Pressure on port #3 20-25% higher than pressure
on port #2.

Maximum time of pressurizing the locking system
(port #2): 2 seconds.

Maximum time to reach locking pressure: 2
seconds.

OPERATION

5.1

General

The effect of activating the oilports, as shown on
page 7 in Figures 7 8 and 9, is described.

Step 1 Pressure on oilport #1 will turn the plunger at

the correct angle and clamp the product.

Step 2 Pressure on oilport #1 and #2 will lock the

plunger in the clamping position. Lock
pressure must be 100 bar [1450 psi] or
more below
the unlock pressure.

Step 3 The oilports #1 and #2 must be

depressurized before machining starts.

Step 4 An impuls pressure (high oil flow) on oilport

#3 will unlock the plunger and the clamping
force will be released. Pressure on port #3
must be at least 100 bar [1450 psi] higher
than port #2. Minimum time of unlocking
pressure: 2 seconds.

Step 5 Pressure on oilport #3 and oilport #4 will ex-

tend the plunger and turns it back into its
original position.
Important: Unclamp pressure (port #4) must
not exceed 70 bar [1015 psi]. If the cylinder
does not unclamp with a maximum of 70 bar
[1015 psi], do not under any circumstances
raise the pressure higher than 70 bar [1015
psi], but re-apply higher unlock pressure to
port #3.

Operation instructions

Before starting machining, check if all couplings and
connections are fastened properly and are leak-
tight.
Check proper operation of the swing cylinders and
the other system components.
Take all necessary precautions to prevent dirt from
entering the system. Use high pressure filters.

MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE

Caution: Hydraulic equipment must only

be serviced by qualified hydraulic
personnel.

Change the oil at regular times or when necessary.
Refer to Pump Instruction Sheet. Use only the
recommended ENERPAC oil.

Use Return line filter kit WFK-25 to extend life of
pump and other hydraulic components

Check the working of the high pressure filters.
If necessary replace the filter element. (Model
number FL-2101K or FL-2201K).

Check the Collet Swing-Lok

®

Cylinders at a regular

time on proper operation, wear, damages, maximum
and minimum pressure, couplings and connections.

ENERPAC offers ready-to-use spare parts kits for
repairs and/or replacement.
