5.6 Clear error message

This command is used to clear error messages appearing in the NE218 display. Only error messages that en-
able clearing by the C pushbutton can be deleted (for example: not Error 1 or 2). Responded is the content of the
current line.

address=35, Status=Error-mode, Error=7, line=01, counter value=2500
Command: <STX>35<ACK><ETX> <ACK> = 06H
Response: <STX>3501R002500<ETX><CR>

Note: A line with no data content (for example line 10) will result in replying error message "<CAN><NUL>".

6. Error message in data transmission

When receiving an incorrect PC protocol (for example not existing line or letters instead of numbers), NE218 will
return an error message, provided it is still addressable in the network. For transmission of an error message in
case of failure at least the control token <STX> and the address have to be correct. If not, NE218 is longer ac-
cessible and therefore not in a position to transmit an error message.
If a PC request remains without reply, neither an error message, a fatal error has occurred – either the control
token <STX> or address are missing (as described above) or the interface parameters of PC and NE218 do not
coincide. If they still do, the error relates to hardware or data line.

Standard error message structure:

<STX> address line status <CAN> error number <ETX> <CR>

Example: address=35, line=09 (void line), error number=2
<STX>3509R<CAN>2<ETX><CR>

„Line“ and „status“ are omitted in the error response.

Detailed error descriptions:

Error 1 : Format error (<ETX> not at the correct location. Error occurs if the

data format was not observed during parameterization (for example: when
programming the start count value only 5 digits were transferred instead
of 6)

Error 2 : Line not available or separating line

Error 3 : Parameter error (Void values in the protocol), for example, the scaling

factor is not only composed of figures but also other void characters, or
a value is outside the permissible range.
