(5) RDS (Radio Data System)

RDS (works only on the FM band) is a broadcasting service which allows station to send additional information along with the regular
radio program signal.
The following three types of RDS information can be received on this unit:

PTY identifies the type of RDS program.

Example: Presetting FM station (currently tuned in) at preset number P03

Before operating the remote control unit!
Be sure to press the proper remote control
mode selector button to set the remote control
unit to the AV mode.

Tune in the broadcast station that is to be preset and
press the Memory button.

A “P0–” (“P1–”, “P2–” or “P3–”) indication flashes
for 10 seconds.

While the “P0–” (“P1–”, “P2–” or “P3–”) indication is
flashing, use the shift button and the channel (CH)
buttons (–, +) to display the preset number “P03”.

Each press of the shift button adds 10 to the current preset
number in the range of P01 to P40.

Example:

Starting with a P13
setting, each press of
the shift button results
in the changes P13 /
P23 / P33 / P03 /
P13 /...

Example:

Starting with a P0– setting, each press of the shift button
results in the changes P0– / P10 / P20 / P30 / P40 /
P10 /...

Press the MEMORY button while the “P03” display is
flashing.

The “P03” display will light and presetting will be
completed.

Presetting

Up to 40 AM or FM stations can be preset using this procedure.

In addition to the reception frequency, the reception mode (monaural or auto) is also preset, so check the display when
presetting stations.

If a station is preset at a number where a station is already preset, the previous station is replaced with the new station.

The preset memory is not cleared when the power cord is unplugged.

(4) Listening to preset stations

Example: Listening to the station preset at number P03 (This operation is only possible from the remote control unit.)

Be sure to press the proper remote control
mode selector button to set the remote control
unit to the AV mode.

Traffic Program (TP)
TP identifies programs that carry traffic announcements.
This allows you to easily find out the latest traffic conditions in your area before you leaving home.

Radio Text (RT)
RT allows the RDS station to send text messages that appear on the display.

NOTE: The operations described below using the RDS, PTY and RT buttons will not function in areas in which there are no RDS

broadcasts.
