Controls for the Sub Level, Sub Filter, the signal phase and the satellite filter are located on the
back panel of the subwoofer. The following tips are intended to assist you at using the controls
in the best manner.

7.1

Level

This controls the Input Sensitivity in a range from -∞dB to +12dB. In order
to accommodate personal taste and any influence of Low Shelf controls
of the satellites (when used), the volume control has a bigger maximum
range than the satellites.
However, keep the level settings for subwoofer(s) and satellites at
approximately the same indicated scale levels, as a starting point. For
example, if the satellite volume control is set to, say, “0dB” (center
position), also use “0dB” at the subwoofer. This equally applies to setups
with either one mono or two stereo subwoofers.

7.2

Low Pass Frequency (Sub Filter)

The upper frequency roll-off of the subwoofer’s output is variable and can
be set to any value between 50 and 120Hz.

In a typical setup with a stereo source, use the following settings:

• set the variable Low Pass Frequency on the SubF to 80Hz
• switch the Satellite High Pass Filter on both the SubF and the satellites (i.e.

HP 80Hz on F5 + F7 models) to 80Hz

• switch the Subwoofer Phase to 0°
• set the level controls on the subwoofer and the satellites to equal dB val-

ues, indicated by the scales around the knobs. If you are using the Low
Shelf controls on the satellites, you may want to increase/decrease sub-
woofer level according to the Low Shelf control’s setting.

In setups using a surround receiver and the like which have their own speaker management,
it is typically best to use the satellites in flat mode (80 Hz highpass not engaged on the satel-
lite rear panel) and to dial in the highest possible cut-off frequency for the subwoofer (120
Hz) on its rear panel.
