5.14 Replacing the Controller
The program for the internal device control of the
Gemini 2 firmware is stored on a programmable controller.
(Art. No. 553 4502)
This controller is plugged in a socket on the PCB.
You may upgrade the Gemini 2
firmware by replacing the controller.
To replace the controller, proceed as follows:
Unplug the power cable!
1. Disassemble the chassis.
2. Remove controller (Fig. 27) from its socket using a
PLCC extractor (Fig. 28, Art. No. 892 0001).
3. Insert the new controller.
Note the orientation. Position the
beveled corner of the controller to the
upper left beveled corner of the base.
The label on the controller must still
be visible after plugging in.
4. Reassemble the chassis.
5. Switch the printer on.
6. Enter the printhead resistance value on the Gemini 2
Control Panel (see paragraph 3.2).
5.14 Wechsel Controller
Das Programm für die interne Gerätesteuerung (Firmware)
des Gemini 2 ist in einem programmierbaren Controller
(Art.-Nr. 553 4502) abgelegt.
Dieser Controller ist auf einen Sockel auf der Leiterplatte
des Gemini 2 aufgesteckt.
Es ist möglich, den Gemini 2 durch
Austausch des Schaltkreises mit
einem in der Entwicklung
fortgeschritteneren Firmware-
stand (z.B. mit erweiterten Funk-
tionen) auszurüsten.
Controllerwechsel wie folgt durchführen:
Netzstecker ziehen!
1. Gehäuse demontieren.
2. Schaltkreis (Bild 27) mit PLCC-Extractor (Bild 28)
(Art.-Nr. 892 0001) aus der Fassung ziehen.
3. Neuen Schaltkreis einsetzen.
Orientierung beachten, abgeschräg-
te Ecke des Schaltkreises nach links
oben zur abgeschrägten Ecke des
Sockels positionieren. Aufdruck auf
Schaltkreis muß nach Eindrücken
sichtbar bleiben.
4. Gehäuse montieren.
5. Gerät einschalten.
6. Eingabe des neuen Druckkopf-Widerstandswertes
über das Gemini 2 Control Panel
(siehe Abschnitt 3.2).
