Selecting the listening source

A brief press on a source button selects the corres-
ponding device as listening source. The signal from this
source is then reproduced by the system. If the system is
switched off, it is automatically switched on if you press a
source button.

You can only remotely control that device which is cur-
rently selected as the listening source. The listening
sources are selected using the following buttons on the
remote control handset:

CD 820 M CD player or DVD 820 M DVD
player

Toggles between Tape 1 / Tape 2

The PT 820 M’s integral tuner

Source device connected to the pre-amplifier
input AUX / PHONO

Toggles between the source devices which
are connected to the pre-amplifier inputs
AUX / TV and STB (if connected to the
DD 820 M).

Notes:

• When you change sources, the newly selected

source is displayed briefly on the screen. The screen
then reverts to a device-specific standard display.

• If your system includes an MM or MC module,

AUX / P is the phono input.

• The signal from the currently selected source is

present at the TAPE record outputs, and can be
recorded onto cassette or other form of tape.

Volume control

Every time you press one of the VOLUME
buttons briefly, the volume is reduced (-) or
increased (+) by 1.5 dB.

If you hold one of the VOLUME buttons
pressed in for longer than about 1 second,
the volume changes continuously until you
release the button again.

The current volume level is displayed on the
screen briefly as a numeric value (0 … 63),
e. g.:

'

A long press switches the loudspeaker

The current status of the loudspeaker out-
puts is also shown on the screen constantly
in the form of the code letters A and B.

Notes:

The loudspeaker outputs remain switched off
during the first few seconds after the system
is switched on, (power-on delay).
If you select the loudspeaker mode A+B (Bi-
wiring: see 'Appendix, wiring diagram
1b'), the loudspeaker outputs cannot be
switched on and off separately.
