PRESET function - AUTOSTORE

Explanation:

When the tuner is set to store stations automatically it
searches the entire VHF band for stations twice, using
different search thresholds. It locates the stations which
can be picked up using the STEREO / NARROW
reception mode, and automatically stores the stations it
finds. This process may take quite a quite, as the tuner
tries to receive and store the full RDS station name for
each station it locates. If the AUTOSTORE function fails
to detect the station name, but the tuner later picks it up
when that preset is selected, the screen will display the
station name on the integral screen, and store it
automatically in the preset.

Operation:

To carry out the AUTOSTORE function press the remote
control buttons in the sequence stated above.

As with the manual storing procedure, you can select a
preset number as the starting point using either the

 /

 buttons or the numeric buttons, i. e. the number from
which the located stations are to be stored.

If you wish the station memory to start from the
beginning, select the number 01.

Press the

 button to initiate the AUTOSTORE

function; the frequency display starts to increment (run
upwards).

The function can be interrupted at any time by pressing
one of the tuning buttons (

 or 

). The machine

stops the AUTOSTORE function as soon as the full VHF
band has been searched twice, or when the highest spot
memory (P 60) has been filled.

Notes:

Since the tuner is unable to determine the quality at
which the individual stations are received, the machine
provides a facility to edit the automatically stored presets
manually.

This also applies to transmitters whose RDS station
name was not properly picked up during the
AUTOSTORE process, or which was not transmitted by
the station according to the RDS norm.

To edit a preset, call it up and attempt (if you wish) to
optimise the reception quality by changing the reception
mode (WIDE / ATTENUATOR / MONO); the preset can
then be stored again manually (see section 'Manual
storing').

Presets containing stations not worth picking up, or the
same stations on different frequencies, should simply be
erased (see section 'Erasing a preset').

PRESET function – erasing a preset

Explanation:

Presets containing stations not worth picking up, or the
same stations on different frequencies, should be
erased.

Operation:

The first step is to call up the preset to be erased, either
directly using the numeric buttons or using the

 / 

buttons. The remote control buttons should then be
pressed in the sequence stated above.

The preset is erased when you press the

 button.

Notes:

The machine responds to any attempt to erase an invalid
preset number (xx) by displaying the message
'

Pxx

Pxx

Pxx

Pxx ERROR

ERROR

ERROR

ERROR

'.

Under certain circumstances it may be necessary to
erase all the presets, e. g. if you move house, and all the
reception frequencies and radio stations have changed.
There is a procedure for erasing the entire preset
memory; please read the section on the PT 820 M tuner
in the 'Trouble-shooting' section.
