3.3 Functions
3.3.1 Operating principle
The pressure regulator operates on the principle of equalization of opposed
forces:
1. The counterpressure of the spring causes opening of the device.
2. The counterpressure of the diaphragm causes closing of the device.

When a tap in the water system is opened, the force of the spring exceeds
that of the diaphragm, the upper part sinks and enables water to flow. The
greater the demand for water, the more the pressure under the diaphragm
drops, allowing more water to flow through the device.
