DriveServer architectures (examples)

In the following you will find a short description of architectures implemented with the DriveServer.

Since there are so many configurations possible, the following examples can only show some typical

DriveServer architectures.

Access via a LAN (Local Area Network)

Transparent access using a PLC

Access to different fieldbus systems via a LAN

7.1

Access via a LAN (Local Area Network)

The following figure shows a system architecture which allows access to a drive network in a LAN
(e.g. Ethernet).

LAN (Ethernet)

Fieldbus (CANopen)

The fieldbus (e. g. CANopen) is connected to an industrial PC.

The corresponding bus server and the DriveServer are installed on this industrial PC.

The industrial Pc is also connected to the local Ethernet network.

Diagnostics/parameter setting for the drives can be made via all PCs connected to the Ethernet

network. The only condition is that an OPC client is installed (e. g. the parameter setting
program Global Drive Control with OPC interface).
