GB
D) The pump and piping system must have the following points assured:
- It must be filled with the medium.
- The suction piping up to the pump must have all the air bled out.
- All additional connections that prevent the flow of medium past the pump must be
closed.
- The lock valves on the piping on the pressure side of the pump must be closed.
E) The protection of all rotating parts must be implemented as required by the safety at work
regulations.
F) When starting the pump, the lock valve on the pressure side of the pump must slowly be
opened, after the electric motor has reached the highest rotations.
G) With the increase of the medium temperature and possible leakage of the medium at the
contacts protected by seals, care should be taken that the screws are properly fastened,
and in the case of excessive dripping the screws should be tightened.
H) The shut-down of the pump should also be implemented with certain rules. Before shut-
down of the pipe, all valves on the pressure side of the pump should be closed, this is
essential in avoiding the occurrence of back pressure. It is also extremely important during
shut-down that the lock valves on the suction piping are open.
I) A higher temperature can be dangerous during dismantling, so the flow of a cooler medium
must be assured before stopping the pump. The electric motor must be stopped steadily
without any forcible interventions to the pump.
J) Extremely low temperatures of the medium must be prevented in the system due to potential
freezing, including releasing the medium from the system.
K) Before dismantling the pump, it is necessary to mechanically disconnect the cables from
the connection cabinet and prevent a possible start-up of the pump. We close the valves
on the suction piping, control the lock on the pressure side, and prepare the pump for
dismantling.
5. MAINTENANCE – DISMANTLING
A) Maintenance must be done regularly according to the periodic plan of reviews. The pump
must operate calmly, without tremors, and always filled with medium.
B) Operating the pump at ambient temperatures higher than 40°C is not recommended. The
temperature of the bearing (the external side of the bearing carrier) must not exceed 90°C.
The maximum temperature of the medium is given in the technical details on the display
plate of the pump.
C) The flow of the medium through the pump must be enabled, as longer operation of the pump
with closed valves on the pressure side is not permitted.
D) With damaged mechanical seals, care should be taken that the medium does not penetrate
to the electric motor, as it can cause permanent damage. It is necessary to inspect the other
seals (flat, seal), and watch for the occurrences of leaks at the contacts. When the seals are
worn out, they need to be replaced.
E) If the pump remains idle for a longer period, it is recommended to start-up the pump for 5
minutes weekly according the same instructions for the initial start-up.
F) The inspection of bearings should be more frequent in adverse operating conditions. The
manufacturer foresees a minimum of 20000 hours of operation. Interventions to the pump
can only be done by an authorised maintenance service.
G) With mechanical damage to the original parts of the pump, it is necessary to call an
authorised service.
