•Operation
General
The AMS400A is a panel mount device used between controlling
equipment and field devices to allow manual takeover of automatically
controlled processes. Typical applications include:
• Manual start-up of sensitive processes before hand over to
automatic control
• Manual over-ride in case of controller failure or malfunction.
In the automatic mode, the AMS400A adjusts the control element
according to signals from the controlling device. In the manual mode,
you adjust the control element from the keypad.
StatusLEDOperation
The LED indicators above each key show the AMS400A’s status.
AUTO LED shows that the unit is in Automatic mode.
MAN LED shows that the unit is in Manual mode.
AUTO LED flashing and MAN LED on indicates handover mode.
ENT LED is normally on and blinks to indicate a keypress.
ì and Å LEDs indicate that increment or decrement signal or keypress
has been received.
KeypadOperation
To change to manual mode hold down both MAN and ENT keys (this
also cancels on incomplete transfer to automatic mode).
To return to automatic mode hold down both AUTO and ENT keys.
The ì and Å keys increment or decrement the control element setting
(in manual mode only).
In Manual mode, the AUTO key displays either the input (automatic
value) from the control device (‘AA’ configuration only) or the current
