Because only 1 s can be set as the highest shut-
ter speed using the dial, direct metering is no
longer possible. Conversion or reading the cor-
rect shutter speed from this diagram is therefore
essential. Metering field orientation in the viewfinder
(Diagram see pp. 88-89)
The diameter of the circular metering field is
12 mm. This corresponds to
1 /
2
of the format
height and 1 /
3
of the format width. However, in
the viewfinder image the metering field size
changes slightly in relation to the valid framing,
which depends on the focal length used and the
set distance.
This also applies to lenses with a viewfinder
attachment, e.g. the LEICA ELMARIT-M 135mm f/2.8.
