Installation / Setup in one- or two-family homes
Setup of small installations is easy and can be done by non-professionals.
•
We recommend the use of a Satman 850 Plus outdoor unit, due to the exceptional
sensitivity of the TechniRouter even a smaller diameter dish is sufficient.
•
Use a Quattro-LNB (Low Noise Block Converter). A Quattro Switch LNB is not suitable.
Please proceed as follows:
1. Position the antenna with the help of a suitable measuring device or a receiver.
2. Install the system, ensuring the power is not connected.
3. Be careful to ensure that the lines from the LNB have not become interchanged with each
other. To facilitate operations, it is best to use several coaxial cables with numbering of each
individual cable or marking the relevant cables, e.g. using a suitable tack. Checking the cables
to ensure that no short circuits happened avoids time-consuming troubleshooting
procedures, especially within larger systems.
4. Configure the receiver as described under point 4.6.
•
When feeding terrestrial signals into systems with more than 8 subscribers, you should use
a preamplifier when there are problems with the RF-level.
•
Unused inputs must not be connected with a termination resistor!
The following detailed advantages of the system are made possible by the use of relatively
complicated technology in comparison to conventional multiswitches. To avoid seemingly
inexplicable effects, please pay attention to the setup of the distribution system following the
instructions given in point 4.6.
4.1 Upgrading an Existing Broadband Cable Distribution as an SCR Distribution
Advantage:
For the distribution itself, no new cables need to be installed. This avoids work
load, dirt and costs.
•
An existing coaxial cable set-up should be checked to ensure compatibility for signals of up to
2.15 GHz. The easiest way to do so is to tentatively feed in a conventional digital satellite
signal at the operating point and lift this to the furthest point via an F-plug (without the
antenna socket present), and evaluate the quality at the upper end of the band.
•
The sockets, distributors and amplifiers present must be replaced with satellite compatible
components with a DC connection.
