Construction of enclosure
The PCMatic
®
is designed for building into an industrial PC, which is usually mounted in a metal
switching enclosure or a comparable pedestal housing. The basis of correct construction for EMC
requirements is that the switching enclosure must be divided into various separate EMC zones. The
EMC zones differ in terms of the type of components used and are characterised by different levels of
interference. When constructing the enclosure, attention must be paid to ensuring a physical
separation of the individual EMC zones. According to the type of EMC zone, various system
interrelationship potentials (intermeshed or star-shaped) may apply. The system interrelationship
potentials of the EMC zones are managed separately and only connected at one point in the switching
enclosure (potential equalisation point). A distinction is made between the following EMC zones:
Different EMC zones
•
Analogue zone, star-shaped interrelationship potential
•
Digital zone, intermeshed interrelationship potential
•
Power zone, star-shaped interrelationship potential
•
Potential equalisation point
