Check whether the heating element (3) has reached its operating temperature (measured
value display, green bar.

PLEASE OBSERVE! To ensure an even heat distribution over the entire heating element it is

necessary to wait for a period of 10 minutes once the temperature is reached. Check the
temperature using a suitable surface temperature measuring instrument.

3.2.3 Welding

Risk of injury! Keep a safe distance from the machine when mechanically closing
clamps and moving workpieces. Keep hands, limbs and objects such as clothing,
tools etc. away from running machine!

While moving workpiece ends to welding position, read the workpiece drag pressure from the
manometer (7).

The workpiece drag pressure is the minimum amount of pressure required to set the
workpiece – depending on weight and length – in axial motion. This value must be precisely
determined; it will be necessary to engage and disengage the machine and workpieces
several times and to set the pressure adjustment valve (8) until the machine almost comes to
a standstill. Add the drag pressure to the conformation, heat-penetration and joint pressure.

Insert the heating plate (3) into the basic unit between the two workpiece ends.

Press the control lever (4) fully rightwards, pipe ends at high speed until just before the
heating element and drive back the control lever to the notch.

After the tubes rest against the heating element, set and maintain the required conformation
pressure plus drag pressure.

Once the required head height evenly around the entire circumference of both tubes is
reached, adjust the pressure on Heating pressure and activate the timer (s. 3.2.8).

Set the pressure so that workpiece ends have uniform almost pressureless contact to the
heating plate (warm up) and the workpiece ends still have contact with the heating plate.

After the warm-up phase, disengage workpieces, remove the heating element (3).

Press the control lever (4) fully rightwards, pipe ends at high speed until just before the
heating element and drive back the control lever to the notch.

After the tubes are together, .increase the pressure linear to the respective joint pressure and
maintain that pressure until the joint is fully cooled.

Starting the timer for the cooling down period.

Once the cooling down period has elapsed, bring the control lever (4) to the center position.
Unclamp the welded workpieces and drive the machine open.

3.2.4 Setting up of segmented bends Ø 90 - 315 mm

Loosen the front and rear screws on the foot of the basic clamping tool (2). Rotate the tool
by the desired number of degrees and re-tighten the screws.

Saw the pipes to the required mitre angle and clamp them in the basic clamp tool (2).

When facing the pipe ends, make sure that the pipes are centred on the facing discs.
Adjustment can be made by loosening the clamp screws at the side and moving the cross
slide in the dovetail guide.

Attention! Use the appropriate pressure table for the segmented bend.
