ENGLISH
Strainers must only be installed by qualified technicians.
Read the operating instructions before installation.
Only use original GESTRA spare parts!
Important Safety Notes
GESTRA strainers are installed in pipes in order to filter
out impurities.
Function
Danger
The unit is under pressure during operation!
When flange connections or sealing screws are removed,
the medium can escape.
Observe safety regulations in respect of the medium!
Installation and maintenance work should only be carried
out when the system is depressurized: Isolate unit from
both upstream and downstream pressure.
The unit becomes hot during operation!
This presents the risk of severe burns to hands and
arms.
Installation and maintenance work should only be carried
out when the system is cold!
Sharp edges on internal parts present a danger of cuts
to hands!
Always wear industrial gloves for installation and main-
tenance work!

Technical Data
. Observe installation position. The element of Y-type
strainers should point downwards when installed in
a horizontal line.
. Observe flow direction. The flow direction arrow is
cast on the housing.
. Observe free space for future disassembly of the
screen (see data sheets).
4. Remove plastic sealing plugs. The plastic sealing
plugs
only serve as transit protection!
5. Clean sealing surfaces.
6. Install strainer.
Installation
With flange
Ensure that the pipe flanges are exactly parallel to the
connection flanges on the unit. Tighten the diagonally
opposite flange connection screws evenly. Do not distort
the unit when tightening.
Important Note
Never exceed beyond the max. permitted operating con-
ditions. For strainers, this refers to operating pressure
and temperature.
After the first initialization, or after system modifications,
check strainers for dirt and damage. Refer to “Cleaning
the screen insert”.
Commissioning
GSF 340
Open the manual vent valve, if necessary.
Operation
Danger
GSF 340
The unit is under pressure during operation. When the
manual vent valve is opened, the medium escapes through
a relief hole. Observe the safety regulations concerning the
medium! Before opening, put on the necessary protective
clothing! Open the valve carefulIy!
Clean dirty screen inserts. The frequency for cleaning
the screens is dependent on the degree of dirtiness of
the pipes.
