Comment

The following procedures describe a triplicate determination of blank
values, standard solution, and samples without correction of light beer
and worts.

For dark beers and worts, the work procedure contains a triplicate
determination of blank value, standard solution, correction and sample.

Procedure for free amino nitrogen (FAN) in light worts and
light beers

1.

Prepare the zero solution, blank values, standard solutions and
sample each three times according to the work procedure.

2.

Select STORED PROGRAMS > SELECT BY NUMBER.

3.

Enter the number 2007 for the program "FAN light wort". Confirm
with OK.

Enter the number 2008 for the program "FAN light beer". Confirm
with OK.

4.

Press START to start the program.

5.

Enter the zero solution (dist. H

2

O) and press ZERO.

Z1 is shown on the display.

6.

Insert the blank value cuvette (see sample preparation) and press
READ.

R1 is shown on the display.

Note: Proceed similarly with the blank value cuvettes 2 and 3. R2 or
R3 are shown on the display.

7.

Insert the standard cuvette (see sample preparation) and press
READ
.

R4 is shown on the display.

Note: Proceed similarly with the standard cuvettes 2 and 3. R5 or
R6 are shown on the display.

8.

Insert the analysis cuvette with the prepared sample and press
READ.

R7 is shown on the display.

Note: Proceed similarly with the analysis cuvettes 2 and 3. R8 or
the result will be shown on the display.

The FAN result is shown in mg/L.

Note: In order to analyze further samples, repeat the procedure
from step 8.

Procedure for free amino nitrogen (FAN) in dark worts and
dark beers

1.

Prepare the zero solution, blank values, standard solutions,
correction solutions and sample each three times according to the
work procedure.

2.

Select STORED PROGRAMS > SELECT BY NUMBER.

3.

Enter the number 2015 for the program "FAN dark wort". Confirm
with OK.

Enter the number 2016 for the program "FAN dark beer". Confirm
with OK.

4.

Press START to start the program.

5.

Enter the zero solution (dist. H

O) and press ZERO.

Z1 is shown on the display.

6.

Insert the blank value cuvette (see sample preparation) and press
READ.

R1 is shown on the display.
