Determination of the calibration curve

The factor 1 = 0.037 is an empirical factor and must be individually
determined through a calibration curve. The factor is the slope of the
calibration curves.

1.

Pipette 40 mL of beer into four individual 50 mL volumetric flasks.

2.

Pipette into the volumetric flasks each0.40 mL, 0.80 mL, 1.60 mL
and 3.20 mL of the iron standard solution (5 mg Fe

3+

/mL).

3.

Add to each volumetric flask 2 mL ferrozine reagent and 1 mL
ascorbic acid solution.

4.

Fill to the mark with dist. H

2

O.

5.

Measure the extinction of the solution in a 40 mm rectangular
cuvette at 560 nm against a corresponding blank value.

Subtract the results of the un-spiked sample from the spiked samples.
