INTRODUCTION
The
Video Pattern Generator PM
5414
V
is used for check and measurements, maintenance, and
repair of video equipment. The PM 5414 V meets the specific requirements of video equipment,
including computer and CCTV monitors. The pattern generator application areas are development,
production, quality control, service workshops, and education.
The instrument operates according to CCIR or RTMA systems with either PAL chroma or NTSC
chroma. A thumbwheel switch at the rear of the instrument is used to select TV systems.
The line frequency is automatically selected, either 15625 Hz for CCIR or 15734 Hz for RTMA. Line
and field synchronization are according to the appropriate TV standard and are available as line and
field frequency for external applications at the BNC socket at the front panel.
The 18 basic test patterns and over 70 different pattern combinations are selected by the PATTERN
keypad.
The video output signal is 1 V standard in stop position; it can be set from 0 to 1.5 V.
A front-panel CVBS signal and a combined line/field sync output are available.
The
PM

V
-I-
Y/C
has an additional Y/C & RGB unitfortests and applications in the area of video
equipment market, including computer, and closed circuit TV monitors.
The Y/C output, a 4-pin S-connector, provides separate luminance and chroma signal components
for testing modern video equipment which have S-VHS or Hi 8 facilities. The result is a reduction in
cross color interference and an improvement in the picture quality. The R-G-B output offers the pri
mary colors red, green, and blue including composite sync and sub-carrier signals at 5 BNC sockets
at the rear side.
Service is done at the component level, so it is not necessary to exchange a complete module. In
addition the mechanical concept allows quick access to all parts for service purposes; all units are
plugged into the motherboard.
