9.6 Conditions to observe for connection in hazardous areas
■
The electrical connection is made using the ⊕ and ⊖ terminals
■
The power supply circuit must fulfil the conditions for an intrisically-safe ignition
protection type
■
The requirements of IEC 61241-0 must be met.
■
For operation in dust hazardous areas, the demands of IEC 61241-14 must be followed.
Version with output signal 4 ... 20 mA, model TR30-W
■
The following values for the power supply and current loop circuit must not be exceeded:
Power supply and current loop circuit (connections)
Voltage
Ui DC 30 V
Current
Ii 120 mA
Power
Pi see Table 1
Effective internal capacitance Ci 6.2 nF
Effective internal inductance Li 110 µH
Sensor current loop
Power
Po 37.5 mW
The maximum self-heating at the sensor tip is 4 K
Ambient temperature:
depending upon the temperature class, either Table 1a or 1b is applicable.
Table 1a, model TR30-W-A (for gases)
Temperature class
Ignition source Power Pi
Ambient temperature Tamb
T1 to T4
Gas
800 mW
-20 °C ≤ Tamb ≤ 85 °C
T5
Gas
800 mW
-20 °C ≤ Tamb ≤ 75 °C
T6
Gas
800 mW
-20 °C ≤ Tamb ≤ 60 °C
For operation in areas which require Category 2D equipment, the following values are appli-
cable:
Table 1b, model TR30-W-B (for gases and dust)
Power Pi
Ambient temperature Ta
Max. surface temperature T
750 mW
-20 ... +40 °C
60 °C
650 mW
-20 ... +70 °C
90 °C
550 mW
-20 ... +100 °C
120 °C
The max. temperature in °C at the sensor tip is calculated from the medium temperature
plus the self-heating in the event of failure (4 K).
