4.4.5 Symbol Editor
Symbols can be browsed through by using the VWOPC Agent. As soon as a connection to the
OPC server has been entered, it is possible to activate the symbol browser by entering “Edit
→
Import Items” in the menu.
After selecting the project type or a file, the corresponding lists are filled with the variables. After
selecting the variables, these can be transferred directly to the OPC server by activating the button
“Übernehmen” (”Adopt”).
4.4.6 The VWBrowser tool – S7 project
The VWBrowser tool is a simplified OPC DA interface. In this case, only the interfaces necessary
for the import of items have been implemented:
• IOPCServer (only the method “GetStatus”)
• IOPCBrowseServerAddressSpace
• IOPCItemProperties
This makes it possible for all VisiWin development environments to import items directly from
the databank of the Step7 project.
