Connecting the SAT IF inputs and outputs

Always use your professional measuring device to check the SAT IF signal quality and ensure that
the signal levels are within the input level range of the multi-switch. The level should be approx. 80
dBµV.
Attach the SAT IF cables to the appropriately marked inputs on the base units and check whether
potential equalisation needs to be carried out on the coaxial cable.

The maximum LNB remote feed current is 300mA per input and is short-circuit-proof.

The outputs are used to loop the SAT IF signals
through to another base unit. Cascading more
than two devices is not recommended because
of the increase in level difference in the input
signal. Unused SAT looping outputs must be
terminated using the enclosed terminal
resistors.

Connecting the HF outputs

The integrated collection area in the TechniNet BS4 base unit switches the 16 channel strips to
the HF output. Attach the CATV network coaxial cable to the RF output port on the base unit and
check whether potential equalisation needs to be carried out on the coaxial cable.

The RF input port is used for cascading an additional BS4. To do this, connect
the RF output for the second BS4 to the input for the first. Cascading more
than two devices is not recommended because of the increase in system
noise power. It is better to feed the output signals from a third BS4 base unit
via an external diplexer.
If the RF input port is not being used, it must be terminated with a 75 ohm
terminal resistor at all times.

Connecting the LAN

You can use the Ethernet LAN ports to configure and control the TechniNet BS4 base unit via a

graphic user interface on a PC. To do this, connect the PC to the Ethernet 1
port on the BS4 using a network cable.

To network additional base units, use the Ethernet 2 port on the BS4. To do
this, connect the Ethernet 2 port on the first BS4 to the Ethernet 1 port on
the second BS4 and so on. The subnet mask sets a volume limit.
