3.11.3 Network Information Table (NIT)
The NIT describes the actual physical structure of the network. SkyCable cards are being able to
generate a valid NIT. The programming of NIT is performed exclusively with the TechniNet
Management Software.
3.11.3.1 Terrestrial Delivery System Descriptor
The NIT contains the Terrestrial Delivery Descriptor for the transmission of physical parameters
of each transport multiplex. It helps the end devices in the automatic library lookup.
3.11.3.2 Logical Channel Numbering (LCN)
The NIT contains the Logical Channel Descriptor which provides a default channel number label
for services. The intention of the Logical Channel Numbering is to provide an operator of cable
network assigned virtual channel number, for each of the services available to the STB receiver.
