Initiation

After the KVM extender has been properly installed, it can be immediately put into

operation.

Mind the following activation sequence while initiating the KVM extender:

1. Connect the power pack of the receiver (DL-Compact-CON) to the mains. Use a

power cable (PowerCable-2 Standard) for this purpose.

2. Connect the power pack of the transmitter (DL-Compact-CPU) to the mains. Use a

power cable (PowerCable-2 Standard) for this purpose.

3. Switch on the computer that is connected to the receiver.

After the KVM extender has been switched on, the LEDs on the front panel of the

computer module and the user module indicate the system’s operating status.

The chapter Status displays on page 19 provides further information on this topic.

Operation

The computer that is connected to the transmitter (DL-Compact-CPU) is operated at

the console of the receiver (DL-Compact-CON).

NOTE:

The recommended activation sequence for the initiation ensures that the KVM

extender is able to read out the features of the connected monitor and to transmit

them to the computer (see DDC transmission with cache function on page 18).
