Changing the standard mode of the Service port

The Service port of the KVM switch can be used both for operating the setup menu

and for switching the channels with a serial device.

The

Setup Menu

mode is enabled in the default settings of the KVM switch. In this

mode, the Setup Menu is immediately displayed in the terminal emulator after a ses-

sion is established with the KVM switch.

If you primarily use the Service port for switching the active channel via a serial device,

it is recommendable to enable the

Switch

mode.

How to choose the mode to be enabled when booting the KVM switch:

IMPORTANT:

Depending on the purpose of use, the KVM switch distinguishes

between the modes listed below.

ADVICE:

The enabled mode when starting the KVM switch can be changed any-

time during operation:

By entering the »

« command, the KVM switch changes to the

Setup menu

mode.

By entering the »

Switch

1. Use the terminal emulator to establish a connection to the KVM switch.

If the setup menu is not displayed, the Switch mode of the service port is

enabled. Enter »

« to change to the setup menu.

2. Use the

Arrow

keys to select

Service RS232 Startup Mode

.

3. Press the

Space

key (repeatedly) to choose between the following options:

Setup Menu

 Enabled Setup Menu mode when starting KVM switch

Switch

 Enabled Switch mode when starting KVM switch

4. Press the

S

key to save your settings.
