special pipe of 25 mm diameter that is
installed above the highest point of the
reservoir surface level.
- When filling the system with the medium
we must ensure that the suction piping and
the pump are filled with the medium and
all the air is bleed out. The stop valve from
the suction side, the inflow and outflow
pipes, and the stop valve for vacuum
equalising should all be opened, all the
while controlling the values of the medium
flow, and close the sealing lock fittings.
‘Dry’ operation (without medium) of the pump
is especially dangerous as it causes above
all wear of the mechanical seals of the pump.
B) Assembly of ECL additional parts
The frequency converter and pump on/off
switch, for ECL pumps with a separately in-
stalled regulator, should be installed on a wall
or in a suitable cabinet so that the cooling ribs
of the frequency converter are in a vertical
position, that the ambient temperature ranges
from 5°C to 40°C, that a sufficient circulation
of air is ensured, and that the electronics are
protected from dripping water. The regulator
and pump should be connected according to
the supplied wiring plan with a six-wire cable
of an appropriate cross-section, or with a four-
wire energy and a 2-wire signal cable (see
diagram in attachment).
Only qualified persons may programme
and install the regulation with a frequency
converter.
The frequency converter and pump electric
motor must always be earthed through the
earthing conductors that are connected at
the connecting clips.
C) Connecting the pump
Connection, operation, and usefulness of the
pump are dependent on the type of pump
overloading sensor used for regulating the
pump.
The pressure difference meter (meter P) is
used as a sensor.
When using the pressure difference meter
regulator, the pump components are
electrically connected according to the wiring
plan (shown in the attachment diagram).
The frequency converter contains a high
voltage when connected to a network. After
disconnecting the converter from an electric
charge, wait at least one minute before
continuing operation. When connecting or
disassembling external control signals to the
converter clips ensure that the converter is
not under power.
The mechanical connection of the frequency
converter should be done according to the
instructions of a professional with the crucial
consideration of the spacing to ensure
adequate ventilation.
It also necessary to consider the instructions
for connecting electric conductors. Special
attention should be given to the Cu conduc-
tor cross-section, so that the Cu conductor of
the electric motor is equal to the cross-section
of the conductor cable that connects the fre-
quency converter to the network. The electric
motor cable should be fastened separate from
the other cables. It is necessary to avoid long
parallel connections with the other cables.

A) Preparations for starting the pump
- The electrical connections must only be
made by a professional familiar with the
regulations and who is qualified for this
work. (Please refer to attachment!)).
- For three-phase electric motors, the elec-
trical connection must be implemented ac-
cording to the manufacturer’s instructions
and set to the switching time to 3 sec +- 30%
as recommended. With special configura-
tions of electric motors with anti-explosion
protection, increased security, or increased
temperature class, the connection must be
made through the safety switch.
- The direction of the pump electric motor
rotation must be the same as marked on
the pump parts. If the direction is opposite,
two phases on the electric cables must be
changed in the electric motor cabinet.
- The pump and piping system must have
the following points assured:
- a) It must be filled with the medium.
- b) The suction piping up to the pump
must have all the air bled out.
- c) All additional connections that prevent
the flow of medium past the pump
must be closed.
