protections start operating. The converter is
in a blocked state. On the front side, a light
diode is switched on (ALARM, ERROR). The
control impulses in the transistor connections
(IGBT) are disabled in this position. Before
starting, it is necessary to unblock it by
pressing the RESET key (factory settings are
programmed for an automatic RESET).
START/STOP:
After giving the START command, the
electric motor starts on an expected course.
With the command STOP, the electric motor
stops in the expected time.
F) Setting the pump operational point:
Each heated device has its specific needs
for the quantity of flow and pressure drop of
the circulating heated medium defined by the
architect of the heating device. The heating
device will operate most efficiently, and most
energy will be saved if the pump gave the ex-
act pressure and quantity of heated medium
that the heated device needs. That is why it is
expedient to set the pump operational point
as precisely as possible to the heated device
requirements.
When using the meter P, we set the pressure
drop in the heated device with an appropriate
turn to the pressure difference adjustor placed
on the meter P to the value defined by the ar-
chitect of the device. The pump will keep the
set pressure difference value, independent of
the quantity of flowing medium, which is de-
fined by the position of individual valves of the
heated device. The set difference value can
be read indicator of the adjustor P.
G) Setting the frequency converter and
pump factory settings
Each ECL pump has factory settings to
achieve the technical properties indicated in
the catalogue.
By changing the factory settings of the inbuilt
frequency converter it is possible to achieve
some other special functions of the pump,
such as pump operation at a constant fre-
quency, or the possibility of external regula-
tion by switching to different pre-set frequen-
cies (up to 16 pre-set frequencies). It is also
possible to increase or decrease the pump
power within certain limits, while it is also pos-
sible to change the settings of the pump pro-
tection and similar.
Changes to the factory
settings of the frequency converter can
only be done by an authorised servicer
with a serving operator, which is necessary
for setting the inbuilt frequency converter.
Without a serving operator, it is not
possible to change the set values of the
inbuilt frequency converter.
H) Shutting down the pump
Before dismantling the pump, it is necessary
to mechanically disconnect the cables
from the connection cabinet and prevent a
possible electric start-up of the pump. We
close the valves on the suction side, control
the lock on the pressure side, and prepare
the pump for dismantling.

aintenance
and
disMantling
- Maintenance must be done regularly
according to the periodic plan of reviews.
The pump must operate calmly, without
tremors, and always filled with medium.
- Operating the pump at ambient tempera-
tures higher than 40°C is not recommend-
ed. The temperature of the bearing (the
external side of the bearing mounting) must
not exceed 90°C. The maximum tempera-
ture of the medium is given in the technical
details on the display plate of the pump.
- The flow of the medium through the pump
must be enabled, as longer operation
of the pump with closed valves on the
pressure side is not permitted.
- With damaged mechanical seals, care
should be taken that the medium does not
penetrate to the electric motor, as it can
cause permanent damage. It is necessary
to inspect the other seals (flat, O-ring), and
watch for the occurrences of leaks at the
contacts. When the seals are worn out, they
need to be replaced.
- If the pump remains idle for a longer
period, it is recommended to start-up the
pump for 5 minutes weekly according the
same instructions as for the initial start-up.
- The inspection of bearings should be more
frequent in adverse operating conditions.
The manufacturer foresees a minimum of
20000 hours of operation. Interventions
to the pump can only be done by a
professional or a maintenance service.
